Penn & Teller, Fool Us is a competition for magic television show in which magicians perform tricks before American veteran duo Penn & Teller. Its first 2 seasons featured capable host Jonathan Ross, and the fourth season was hosted by Hannigan.
Every episode begins by introducing the main purpose of the show. Penn & Teller come out and are seated at the center stage. They watch the hopeful performers perform their act in front of them with an audience in the studio. After each performance, Penn & Teller privately confer while the host interviews the magicians. Penn & Teller then reveal whether they are aware of how the trick was performed, typically using cryptic language or recording the technique and then present it to the magicians to confirm, so that they aren`t divulging the secrets of the trick.
The eleventh season will be broadcasted the 9th of October, 2022.

Fool Us was filmed at Fountain Studios in London, England (season one) and at the Penn & Teller Theater located in Las Vegas (season two onward). Following each show, when Penn & Teller cannot figure out how the trick was performed, then the magician(s) who performed it get the Fool Us trophy and a five-star trip to Las Vegas to perform as the opening act of Penn & Teller`s show, which is also held at the Rio Hotel & Casino. The eleventh season debuted on the 1st of October 2021.

If the trick is genuine, or Penn & Teller are unable to determine how the trick was doneThe magician will be awarded the Fool Us award and the possibility of performing as the opening act in Penn& Teller`s Las Vegas show. A backstage judge, who is knowledgeable in the methods of magic, and has witnessed the trick prior to the showis able to make any necessary adjustments, whether Penn & Teller were fooled and, if so, to what degree. After each program, Penn & Teller perform an original magic act.
The first season Jonathan Ross served as a temporary replacement for Penn and Teller`s hosting duties, but they returned for the following season. It was filmed in Fountain Studios in London, England for its first season, before relocating to the Penn & Teller Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada for the second season, and later seasons.
The illusionists who perform tricks with Penn and Teller”Fool Us” are generally accomplished sleight-of-hand artists and illusionists. They usually add to the mystery of how their trick is done by performing the trick in complete darkness or by causing distraction with conversation or sound effects. The legendary mentalist Jon Finch mentioned that, Penn and Teller are rumored to have a good relationship with the performers who perform in their show. Some magic acts, such as the ones of Rick Lax, have been invited to perform with Pennand Teller`s Vegas illusion show. In season three, the magicians in the top ten who fooled Penn and Teller were invited to appear on a special episode of Fool Us in which they each get to show their magic act one more and try to fool Penn & Teller to win a ten thousand dollars cash prize. Performers are also asked to perform during the intermission during Penn& Teller`s live Las Vegas show, where the audience members are not aware that the illusion is being staged for them. Teller remains silent throughout the the show, however they communicate with subtle gestures to each other. They`re known to speak with magicians who are performing and ask them to repeat certain actions or to provide additional information.
Penn and Teller are known for their contributions in the field of magicians. Among other things, they have published books on deceit, created instructional videos on the art of card manipulation, and performed in a magic show called Penn & TellerFool Us.
